Rosalba Cifuentes Tovia was born in Tapachula, Mexico and then raised in an area between there and Bella Vista. After making her way to the US at a young age she began learning more about the coffee commodity business and networking around the San Francisco Bay Area. After hearing stories from relatives back home about buyers paying below market prices for coffee, she began to learn about the specialty coffee market as a way to help her local community in Mexico. The Bella Vista region is fairly small, isolated, and populated with small farms dotted throughout the mountains. Access to information, finances, and transportation can be difficult, so Rosalba eventually took matters into her own hands and founded an import/export company called Mayan Harvest in 2016. With the right support and network, she was able to open a sales avenue into the US and started exporting directly from Puerto Madero, Chiapas. She is dedicated to providing a better quality of life for the people in Bella Vista, as well as focusing on ways to improve the quality of the coffee each year. We are proud to offer her community’s coffee and can’t wait to see what the future holds for Rosalba and her team in Chiapas.
The Bella Vista coffee is a blend of 3 different varieties: Bourbon, Caturra, & Catimor. It’s grown at an elevation of around 1700 MASL and is a fully washed coffee. We get some amazing fruit notes of orange and guava with a little hint of limoncello! We hope you enjoy this coffee as much as we do.
