The Hingakawa Women’s Association in Rushashi, Rwanda are a prime example of our philosophy on sourcing coffee, fostering a more direct relationship with the producers. Having released their first crop in 2016, the association was formed as a farmer’s association of women within the Abakundakawa Cooperative as a way to provide revenue premiums to the women producers based on higher quality coffees. With this added incentive and revenue premium, the women are able to continually invest in their quality of life as well as production needs for the association. We love this type of system which rewards hard work and dedication to quality.

We learned about this amazing story and group through our good friends at Queen City Collective Coffee. We love supporting and helping foster these types of relationships which directly provide incentives all the way back to the producer and community.

Hingakawa comes from the Northern Province near the home of the famous Mountain Gorillas. It’s grown at elevations between 1800 – 2100 MASL. We love its unique flavor profile which boasts a bit of apple, grape, and vanilla on the finish. Let this coffee comfort you on those early mornings.
