We’re honored to announce the return of one of our favorites from the Mayan Harvest team and jefecita Rosalba Cifuentes Tovia in Chiapas, Mexico.
Comunidad, the Spanish word for ‘community’, truly represents the spirit of this coffee and it was only through the power of community that this harvest was possible. This lot comes from ~30 producers from the Bella Vista community who managed to overcome extreme logistical, criminal and environmental adversity to harvest their coffee, and the producers are extremely grateful that Rosalba and her team were able to purchase from them this year despite so many difficulties. This is a truly impactful harvest, and we are honored to be a part of it.
Per Rosalba, “For Mayan Harvest, this was a significant challenge and achievement. Despite the limited coffee available, we managed to meet the needs of both the producers and you, our customers. We are immensely grateful for the support you provide by purchasing this coffee on behalf of the producers and ourselves, and we are confident that if we can return next year, we will be there to help the producers.”
Comunidad is a blend of the Bourbon, Caturra, and Catimor varieties that are common to this region and is grown at elevations of 1550-1650 MASL. It’s a fully washed coffee that is dried in the warm Chiapas sunshine. We love this coffee for its deep cherry and dark chocolate notes, wonderfully creamy body and its brown sugar and baking spice finish.
Salud!
